The workload for this position varies throughout the year with greatest intensity during the fall term. While the position, on average over the course of the year, is approximately equivalent to a half-time position, there are weeks at a time when the work is nearly full time. The teacher we are seeking will be able to teach International Baccalaureate (IB) Mathematics at the Higher and Standard Level as well as another IB subject, preferably economics.

  • Ability to live on campus and, ideally to serve in the role of resident tutor (housefellow).
  • International experience or appropriate experience to prepare for working with a diverse population of students from over one hundred countries.

All applicants should have as much passion for teaching the subject to highly motivated 16-19 year old students from around the world as they have passion for the subject itself. In addition, faculty and students at Pearson College see education extending far beyond the classroom. All teachers are expected to lead by example and partner with students in their engagement with the community, locally, nationally and internationally. This includes leading in service, outdoors and creative activities and residential life. Faculty members at Pearson College must have expertise in and a zeal for an activity that they will lead with students. These activities are a vital and integral part of each student’s and each teacher’s experience at the College. There are a wide variety of activities ranging from diving, sailing, hiking, biking, kayaking and skiing to journalism, current affairs, chorus, photography and extensive programs in community service.
