History of the Board

Pearson College was created and is sustained by the commitment, initiative and enthusiastic support of volunteers known as the Board of Trustees. The Founding Board was established in 1973 to fulfil Lester Pearson's wishes, raise funds for the project, hire the Director, supervise construction of the College and assist in assembling the first faculty and students. The College opened in September of 1974. Since that time, successive volunteers have given extensively of their ideas, time, resources and experience to advance the College and, in particular, raise a significant endowment fund to secure the principle of the full scholarship policy.
