Life After Pearson

As the year starts to wrap up, many second year students are thinking about their future plans. This can be an exciting and sometimes daunting thought, the idea of leaving Pedder Bay after living here in community for two years, and it is helpful for students to connect with alumni who have gone through this same transition.
For many years now we gather second year students for an evening of reflection and learning from alumni. Alumni share their tips on how they lived the transition from student to alum, as well as stories about where they are now, what their life path has looked like and what they have learned along the way.
This year, the workshop will take place on 5 April, 2017 from 7:00-9:00pm PST. If you, as an alum, would like to be part of this workshop, please email Julia.
We aim to have a panel of alumni that reflects the diversity of our second year students (and in fact of our alumni population!) and of the diverse paths that you have all taken.
As we will be facilitating a combined in-person and online panel, you don't need to be present on campus to participate

The Nostalgia Project

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to speak to your former self? Specifically, what if you had the chance to talk to the person you were at Pearson?  What would you say? What advice would you give yourself?
One of our alumni-in-residence, writer Trevor Corkum, is inviting you to do just that.

During the month of February, as part of The Nostalgia Project, all Pearson alumni are invited to send a postcard addressed to themselves, care of the college. While you're free share what you'd like as part of the message--words, doodles, photos, quotes--one suggestion from Trevor is to be guided by the writing prompts below. The idea is to spend some time reflecting on who you were during those two years of your life, and putting that person in conversation with who you are now at this moment in time.

Postcards will be accepted only until the One World performances (March 17-18), so your early response is appreciated. During One World, the postcards will be arranged by Pearson students into an installation viewable by the public in the lobby of the concert hall lobby, part of our efforts to engage with the stories and lived realities of alumni around the globe.

Further, your memories will be "released" during the Life After Pearson workshop for current Pearson students. Current students will take part in a "releasing" ritual by reading your postcards aloud to the current second year students, ensuring that your memories--and your words and secret advice to yourselves--will be kept alive and filtered through the energy of the college in 2017.
